Jia Kai (Kyle Chang) is an audio and music producer and DJ living in Seattle.
He composes and spins music under the moniker Jia Kai (pronounced: JEE-Yah Kuh-Ai), his Chinese name.
He has made a name for himself DJing for the queer scene as well as the alt EDM scene.
He has DJd for queer events across the nation like Mickey’s in West Hollywood; Rich’s in San Diego; The Grand in San Francisco, as well as West Hollywood's pride parade with an infectious mix of pop and electropop.
He has also pushed the electronica envelope with notable events Pauz Presents as well as CultFest
He was selected to be part of the Grammy U 2021 & 2022 cohorts for his music production. His music has been featured in places like LAWeekly, Emerging 300 (debuting at 65), and Eyes on Pop (Fuccboii (2024)), and he has even performed for notable corporate sponsors like Alaska Air.
Jia Kai was trained classically on the violin as a child, and he began making music on his computer in college. Since then he's worked professionally on all types of sound, including producing for other singers, making podcasts (NPR) and sound design for short films (Rally). This experimentation with audio seeps into his music making and style resulting in fresh new sounds wrapped in nostalgic feeling.
